Chinese website cnBeta has released a report claiming Apple will release a new 4-inch phone early this year. This phone should be known as “iPhone 5e”. JustGoodBites brings you an overview of what can be expected from this phone, based on numerous rumors that were circulating in the past months.
Apple’s next-generation 4-inch iPhone has been given several names, where cnBeta is the first to call it “iPhone 5e”. This website claims that this phone will be an enhanced iPhone 5s, and will be the company’s new entry-level handset.
It is likely that iPhone 5e will be powered by 64-bit A8 chip and will come with 1GB of RAM. There were reports saying that the new entry-level phone will feature A9 chip with 2GB of RAM, which seems unlikely. Additionally, it is expected that the base model will come with 16GB of storage, with the 64GB model also available. Japanese websites started a rumor that the iPhone 5e will be lighter and thinner, and it should resemble a sixth-generation iPod Touch. Apple could use 2.5D cover glass like the iPhone 6s.
Those of you who are interested in photography should know that the new model will feature the same rear-facing 8-megapixel camera, just like the iPhone 5s. No other rumors were circulating, except that the device will have an improved FaceTime HD camera.
When it comes to pricing and availability, cnBeta reports that the iPhone 5e will launch in February or March, which is actually lining up with multiple other reports. As we reported earlier, several websites already reported a new iPhone arriving in early 2016. Pricing could start at around $500 U.S.
