Apple News launched on iOS 9 this week in the U.S, competing against quite popular news aggregators like Flipboard, News360, and Prismatic. The iOS News app is designed to deliver news stories from large and well-known publications and independent blogs in one mobile-friendly format on all iOS devices.
In contrast to other news aggregators, Apple has set attractive monetization terms for its News app where publishers collect 100% of revenue earned from ads, and 70% of revenue from iAds inventory sold by Apple. In return, some of the well-known publications have already signed on, including CNN, Bloomberg, The New York Times, and more.
It seems that some publications are already pushing exclusive pieces of content. You can already see a Wired feature about Bjarke Ingels, one of the today’s well-known architects. The article will be available exclusively on Apple News at 3PM today, with expanded availability on the web next Tuesday.
