Apple Sunnyvale Campus: Neighbors report loud “motor noises”

According to a nearby neighbor, Apple’s Sunnyvale automotive testing facility has been a source of loud “motor noises”.

A resident who lives in a near proximity to Apple’s automotive campus in Sunnyvale issued a complaint to city officials last year. However, major renovations at the site are currently ongoing, including the addition of an “auto work area” and a “repair garage”. This is why it is unknown whether the sounds were construction or something else, even though Apple has gone to great lengths to hide what is happening at this building.

Apple has struck a deal to be the only tenant in a big office park in Sunnyvale where the tech giant could move 1,400 to 1,500 workers. According to city records, tenant improvements are being undertaken in a 7-building office complex totaling 290,000 square feet where the Macintosh and iPhone supplier has leased all of the buildings.
”(Do) there have to (be) motor noises at 11:00 p.m. at night like last night?” the resident wrote to the city of Sunnyvale. “Even with the windows closed I could still hear it.”
Interestingly enough, Apple occupies seven buildings in Sunnyvale, of a large office complex. One of the buildings was advertised as home to a mysterious company named SixtyEight Research, which is believed to be a shell corporation for Apple. This is one of the ways for Apple to hide its interest in a certain product category. In all fairness, it is unknown if the developments that are happening here are related to the advancement of CarPlay platform or are indeed a part of something much larger. This could be a full-fledged Apple-built car.

At the end, here’s another interesting piece of information. Last year, this property at Sunnyvale campus received permits to build a 10-foot-tall security fence around the building. This was because Apple needed both “physical security” and “visual privacy”. The permits were required because the fence exceeds local height restrictions.
