A couple of days ago, Ford announced its partnership with Apple’s CarPlay system. The first vehicle to offer support for Apple’s iPhone-connected, in-dash system will be the 2017 Escape, available for sale in May.
The new Escape, which goes on sale in May, will be the first Ford vehicle available with all-new SYNC® Connect technology, making the ownership experience easier through vehicle features such as remote start and door locking via the new FordPass® platform. Escape will also be first to offer SYNC 3 featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
According to the announcement, the vehicle will come with the latest version of Ford’s SYNC platform. This version (3.0) brings interconnectivity and includes Apple’s CarPlay as well as its main competitor – Google’s Android Auto system.

Apple’s CarPlay is a safer way to use your iPhone in the car. By connecting your phone, you can get directions, make calls, send and receive messages, as well as listen to music by using your vehicle’s in-dash display. In addition, third-party developers are bringing apps that enhance this system, such as Spotify, Pandora, Overcast, and NPR One.
Back in January, Apple has created an official list of CarPlay partners by year and model on its website.
