Samsung S7 likely to feature 3D Touch-like Technology

According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung’s next-generation flagship handset (Samsung S7) will feature a 3D Touch-like pressure-sensitive display, which is the company’s latest effort in trying to capture bigger market share.

The publication also reports that in addition to the new pressure sensing technology, the so-called “Galaxy S7” will also feature a USB-C port – first used in Apple’s new MacBook. Implementation of this technology is said to allow for faster charging of the phone.

It is also expected that Samsung will continue with the strategy of unveiling and launch two major variants, one standard and one “Edge” version with a curved OLED display. However, we can expect from these phones to have a slimmer profile thanks to the improved camera module, which is currently creating the hump found on the S6.

Even though not much is known regarding the device’s internals, it is expected that most other features will remain the same. One important addition is the return of an SD card slot, which provides cheap expendable storage.

By looking at the previous years, Samsung will likely unveil the S7 during the next year’s Mobile World Congress. This event happens every February, which means that the next-generation flagship should be available in the spring.
