Siri to Be Integrated with OS X 10.12

A new set of leaked images has appeared, showing Siri as a part of OS X 12.10. These images have been published by MacRumors, after being shared with the online publication from a reliable source.

The new Siri icon could be found in the OS X dock. It features a colorful waveform in the style of other OS X built-in apps. However, another icon could be found in the menu bar. This is a simple black and white icon that features the word “Siri” surrounded by a box.

It appears that Siri can be accessed using these two buttons, while a hands-free activation command is also supported. This is an option that is disabled by default but can be found under the Preferences menu.

Apple’s move to integrate its digital assistant into the desktop operating system doesn’t come as a surprise. Microsoft’s Cortana has already found its way into Windows 10, so it was natural to assume that Apple will make the same move with Siri. However, this integration is still in the early stages of development. It can be assumed that the assistant will be able to answer the same queries and perform the same tasks as on iOS devices.

Since work on Siri is far from completed, there is a chance Apple could change these icons and possibly bring something original with this integration.

This year’s WWDC will take place from June 13 to June 17, with a keynote event scheduled on June 13. This is when we will get our first glimpse of OS X 10.12 and iOS 10.
